Well we have decided that this particular truck is a NO GO. It had a gasser in it and Bumsted swapped in a 466 Diesel but never changed the gears. SOooooooooooo it will be a big $ investment right of the bat just to get the gearing up to par.

Let the search go on :)

I hope you guys know what you are getting into buying such a big truck to restore. Nevermind it being so big, the older the truck you buy, the most likely the more rusty it will be. Those trucks are built with some huge nuts and bolts. When they are rusty, Im sure they are no fun trying to bust loose. You will need some real heavy duty tools to even work on such an animal. :D Not saying you guys cant do it, just saying I hope you know what you are getting into, not that I have ever done it. You would need a 3/4" or even a 1" air gun just to get the wheels off! Good luck in your search for the right truck. Mike :)

Jeff, I'd bet that's a brand new OshKosh. They haven't changed them in a long time. Still and awesome looking truck. I'd take it if I had too.:D

:D I'd take it too if someone gave it to me!! and they wouldn't have to twist my arm at all

76chevyman, Mcleans is on route 11 in Limerick Maine. Almost to the Newfield town line. Coming from the south, Me. turnpike to Route 5 west to Limerick, left on Rt. 11, go 2 1/2 miles, he's on the left.

Gordyo that is a very nice truck you would not have to twist my arm either to take it LOL .Just a guess what would that unit go for new with the 2 wings, front blade and sander ?

cat, my friend works for our County Public Works, last year he told me they had considered replacing some of their Oshkosh's but the $250,000 price tag was too steep, and they run only one wing!

Wow ,that is a beautiful plowing machine :D Now take the passenger photo PROSNO posted and im all set

That looks like that truck JD Plower posted photos of from the new england snow and ice expo. I think that one is brand spankin' new. Here's the link to his photo album where the photos of the oshkosh are - http://community.webshots.com/album/76379596ikDsGq/1

That's some pretty good detective work there BKrois. You are right. I just went and looked at JD's pictures and saw the name of the contractor on the door on his pictures and it is the same truck, just without the wings. I saw it at the Walmart parking lot in Hubbardston Ma. Maybe JDPlower knows for sure whether it is new or rehabbed. It said on the battery box built by Schmidt so I just assumed it was refurbished.

That truck wasnt at the NE snow and ice show the day I was there , but there was a flatbed at the end of the lot with Large Daniels plows on it . I wonder if that truck showed up to pick up its new Daniels plow ?
