I know the Halogens are hot enough to keep the snow off, but do the Strobes put out enough heat? I just don't wan't to have to keep cleaning it off during a storm.

Thanks for the info.

I never had a problem like that where the lens would cover up with snow.I think even if it do it a little it would ashine right thru .

I've got twin strobe beacons, and once I clean them off initially, I don't have to the rest of the night. It doesn't seem to matter how hard it snows, they are clear enough to be visible.

I have 4 led's in my patriot bar but i also have 8 stobes so I can't say weather just leds would have a build up but mine never really do.

If you buy a LED mini light bar, new plow, sander, and a truck to put it all on then it won't snow so you should not have to worry about it. I installed a new Sho-Me mini light bar with strobe and it hasn't snowed yet. That should be proof enough. no snow has stuck to it yet.

I guess I just need to buy the sander now:jk

If snow is buildig up your not driving fast enough :D

If something is cold snow shouldnt stick to it. I would think a hallogen would have the wores time unless it gets toasty nough to melt it. That said I've never really seen an issue with our lil strobes or even my big fullsized hallogen light bar.

I clean my dual halogen rotator off before starting out to plow. If I use it, then shut it off for a while when its still snowing, the snow melts on it, then turns to ice as the lens drops below that 32 mark. Hardly used the rotator any more though, thruck's lit up good enough with the 8 LED's and 8 strobes... :grinz

My old chevy had a different problem. Had the rotator on a backrack, right above the rear slider window (regular cab) and I like that fresh breeze when plowing. So, the heat from the cab was going out the rear window, thawing the rotator. Never had problems with buildup on that one, but all the meltoff ended up in the cab through the rear window. CD changers mounted on the back wall of the cab don't like water... :nope

So did the music sould like it was comming from under water?

Not quite, didn't smell very good either... :beatsme

Dang it, you beat me to it, Philip. :burnout

I can usually get the snow stuck on the roof to fly off. ;)

The worst part is when it doesn't come off accelerating, and it comes off stopping. Nothing like sitting at a green light cleaning your windshield of 8" of snow... Only did that once, with my suburban none-the-less... :headwall

i have that light bar radguy and it worked fine last year. i don't remember having to clean it off, other than when i was cleaning off the truck to head out for the first run. it's pretty aerodynamic, so the wind as you drive blows it right off. i'm sure if you had heavy wet snow or lots of sleet and ice, i tmight get covered up.
