Is your defender diesel or gas?

 

Diesel. I just swapped a 200TDi into it.

Silly question, but I assume you realize that no mount exists for any Land Rover, so how good are your welding/fabricating skills?

 

I'd say fair......

The above is a bunch of old scrap steel from work,a Western blade,a Fisher pump and a damaged Land Rover bumper combined.

I hope to do a similar setup for the Defender.

 

Is that a 48 Land Rover? On your Defender do you have locking differentials?

 

That was a 1962 Series2a Land Rover. My old daily driver for almost 15 years.

No. The diffs are open on the Defender.

that sticker might have information copyrighted in 2002 but the plow might be newer... got a serial number?

 

No I haven't moved all the junk and looked for a serial number yet. We had the tail end of a tropical storm blow through here so high winds and heavy rains.

 

Hey, I just noticed something the model is the first two numbers plus a letter in the serial number according to the covers of the manuals I can find online.

 

I am a big fan of lockers ... I don’t believe you can ever have enough traction. And diesel power plants. my obsession are Walter trucks.

 

So, was I right did your serial number include the model as the first part of the code?

 

I can't see a serial number anyplace on it.

Just curious - what's the purpose of figuring out the year and model? It sounds like you already know you are going to have to do custom work to fit it up and it looks like you are capable of doing it based on your photos. Is the plow otherwise non-functional or something?

Yah its been painted and patch repairs over the years. And I'm sure it will require some bits and parts so would be nice to have exact year and model.Here is what I have to work with.

Maybe there is something we can read from the pump under the cover still?
