In the process of fitting power steering to my '71 5500 the demon of not gonna fit reared its' ugly head. I have the complete PS setup off a donor truck but I had to mount the pump differently than the factory due to interference with the central hydraulic pump. The result of that was that the original line from pump to steering box is just not gonna cut it. I'm afraid it will rub on the frame at one point and still be too close to the exhaust at another.
Both ends are flared tubing with a crimped on hose section in the middle. Pump end uses a female nut on the tube, the box end uses a male nut.
Does anyone know if the angles of those flares are the same as flared hydraulic lines? If they will match up I can have a line made that will go more directly between pump and box rather than wandering around next to sharp and hot places. The stock line must be close to three feet long and the way things are sitting I can do it with one loop of hose about 12-15 inches.
