I need help!!!!! I've got an E-47H that just will not lower, I tried all the normal stuff, A silenoid, valve, filter. I even tried pushing the Ram down with the valve out!!!! and still nothing. The only way I could get it to go down was to take the valve out and keep hitting it with a hammer. what the Hell is the matter with this thing. Good thing I started getting my equipment ready early huh? !!!!!!!!Let it Snow!!!!!!!!

something is stuck, probably crap in the cyl or the main seal on the mottom of the piston could be going bad and wedging itself between the piston and cyl.

if something is stuck in a passage way it will be in the blue area

Does the same apply to the E60?? I purchased one last year and it too doesn't go down. I've no power at the terminal where it connects to the "a" solenoid. Nor do I have power at the switch so I'm thinking it's the switch. Should this solenoid be making any noise? It doesn't on my E47, i would think it shouldn't as all it is doing is opening up and allowing the arm to go down.

It's the same for the E60 Henry. If you have no power there how do you expect it to work ? You answered your own question.

Check for power at the switch (black wire) while in the down position. If you don't,and you have a good power supply to the switch, then the switch is bad.

I then have a curiousity question. When I have the switch in the up position with the black wire disconnected nothing happens, but when I connect the black wire the solenoid activates the piston to go up. Are they somehow connected?

Henry the black wire "at" the power unit operates the "A" valve only which allows the plow to lower.
But if your talking about the black wire with the inline fuse that comes into the switch, then that is the "power" lead for the switch not the one to operate the "A" valve.
The solenoid should only operate when switch is in the up or angle positions.

 John.....................

Thanks John, I did mean the wire to activate the "A" valve. The center one is the power.
My question was why, when the "A" valve black wire was disconected, did the up switch not work to activate the up action. Yet when the black wire was connected it did work, only up not down.
I hope I'm making myself clear, probably not.

Henry that is strange, as that should have no affect on the plow raising or doing anything else.
At this point I would do a voltage test at the the switch and then out at the three coils while someone works the switch, you need to see battery voltage at the switch and at the wires going to the coils.
Check the ground at the power unit too, low voltage and poor ground can cause all kinds of weird problems.

Let me know what you find.

Sorry I didn't get back to this sooner. My mechanic and I went over every connection and wire we could find with no results. We took apart the harness and found the black (down) wire with a small hole in it under the truck, corroded right through. cleaned it reconnected it and now everything is great. Three hours of checking. :( Oh well it's fixed. Next problem. :)

PPPPPFFFFT Christmas lights are easy! Plug them in, stand in the bath tub with a little water, now . . . . here you have some choice, either using your tongue, or a wet finger, test each socket. You'll know when you hit the one that DOESN'T work. It's a little like russian roulette, and a little hard on the heart. :) Helps if you've had a number of beer. :) My wife and I take turns checking out the strings. We'de like to make it a family affair.
