I would like to help you keep your driveway or small business parking lot clear of snow for just different items that are not really of value to you, but may be of value to me. Items I like/need are tools, camping stuff, and just misc. items of value. The worst I can say is no. 773- (cell).

If you own a small business, maybe we can trade your goods/services for mine. Have a restaurant, barber shop, convience store, body shop, mechanic shop, a foot doctor, sign shop, print shop, or even a flower shop or spa-for my girlfriend. Keep your customers safe and your expenses down...We can work something out.

773-888- (76 ) or 630-299-98 (cell)

Cash prices are most 2 car drives $20, 3 car drives $25, (includes plowing driveway, walkway shoveling, and salt) (sidewalks-a few bucks more)
Parking lots/large or unusual driveways-I can usually give an accurate quote by zooming in on your address with Google Earth.

I take my time and do it right because I want your repeat business. I have auto and general liability comercial insurance.

or email
Thanks, Wes

$20.00 to plow, shovel and salt the driveway. Salt is about $3.00 to $5.00 of the price. Walkway should be about $5-$8 of the price. So he is charging $7-$12.00 to plow a driveway.

More power to this guy!!!!

No kidding, I just found a guy listing driveway prices starting from $10.00 a plow.

LOL!

Hmmmm, I know a guy who has a couple drives that does them for less than $10 a push.

He seems to know what he's doing.

I dont think he'll be putting 50 lbs of salt down.

Why are you saying what his prices should be?

Just pointing out the obvious. He is putting some product down, so just guessing at his cost. As far as pricing goes, if he wants to charge $7 to $12 bucks a drive, like i said, more power to him.

I will say this, he will most likely be the guy that is one and done and or out of the business quick at those rates. I posted this for laughs, because I thought it was funny, sorry if you took offense to the post. I have never seen anyone charge less than $25.00 to $30.00 a driveway around my neck of the woods, so it was note worthy to me.

For what its worth, I also think its funny when someone is selling a used plow(on craigslist) for more money than it would cost to buy a new one, but thats just me.

I don't think anyone took offense to it honestley and there is always a lot of joking when one of these fly by nights come in and are going to save the world by offering $10.00 driveways. It's just the nature of the group around here. Most of us enjoy a good chuckle every now and then.

PS... if anyone was truley offended then all I can say is if you agree with the pricing level and it works for your business then go for it..... No one here would really care either way unless of course you are in there area and taking legit work away from them and in which case I do have a side business that sells Kevlar Vests :D

The guy I know ain't no fly by night.

Hey Steve, I'm pretty sure we're talking about a different person. I believe he said his per trip cost came out to aboot $3\drive.

IIRC, he's up to aboot 3,400 drives, so I don't think he's going away anytime soon. He's even a member here at LTS and I am sure he doesn't take offense. He's a great guy, even if I only have spoken\met him over the phone and internet.

Hmm I would 5.50 profit on 3400 drives..

They beat me down. I use to have 10 constant and 5 on call long driveways and several small parking lots. But started to lose a few every year for the past couple of years to these guy’s. Lost 6 of my last 7 decent driveways to these guy’s this year. I mostly plowed long driveways with sand and salt. They were 1000 feet or better with multiple parking areas here and there. They do look nice in the summer but winter all those fancy areas are a real PITA. Someone came in and is doing them for 35 bucks with sand and salt. ??? I’ve been doing these drives for the last 10 years and never went up on the price. I would drop of bottles of wine or Champaign at Christmas and New Years, plus fix all the turf damage that may have occurred for nothing and plant a few flowers too. I just don’t get it. I know that the economy’s bad, but WTF. So now I’m down to a small parking lot and 1 moderate driveway. Not worth really getting out of bed. I’ll have to drop my insurance, this would never pay for it. How do these guy’s maintain their trucks? I know that every couple of years there’s front end parts, plow damage, exhaust, brake lines, brakes, sander parts, and what ever. I know for me that what ever I got in December (which is usually not much) and January covered expenses, February and what ever we got in March was my profit. Then usually get shafted on some of those March bills until November. I just don’t get it I guess. Thinking of sleeping this one out and just do my 6 to 4 job.
:beatsme

Here in Syracuse there is a feeling that many are on unemployment due to the local job situation. And of course no insurance and no sales tax.

Sales tax really bites. I'm charging $250 this year for a small drive, which I think is $100 too cheap, but it seems to be the rate. But then when I eat the $20 sales tax now it's $230. If I quote 250 and bill 270 they'll have a fit and go with somebody else.

When I bid I tell them it's plus New York Sales Tax. It's listed that way on the estimate and the contract.

Not if you quote it his way. The state doesn't care just as long as they get there money.

I do write it as plus tax. My point is when there is a gauge on what the market will bear it's a dollar figure regardless of whether it's for service, tax, or otherwise. Plus most lowballers are cash only so it's a compounding effect.
