I've built a building with cement blocks I guess they call them jersey barriers they are 2'x2'x6' used them for the walls then built a truss roof over that . The building should hold a good 100 yds. with 6-1 ratio I think I should be all right I also cover my sander when I am on the road I think it does help the freezing

Those are called Mafia Blocks... A Jersey Barrier is what you see along the highway in construction zones.....

I have a hard time believing that 6/1 is going to keep that pile from freezing but if it works for you thats all that matters.

I know for a fact 7/1 will work down into the -10's no problem at all in the pile or spreader.

I am thinking about cutting our salt with sand maybe 50 50. What kind of sand should I use? I have buyers v box all electric units will this mix flow through these spreader decently?

PS by going half salt half sand what kind of mess am I going to be left with at the end of the season? I don't want to really have to rent a sweeper to clean our lots.

If you dont want to sweep lots, dont apply sand... We never apply sand and never have to sweep lots... :wink
