I am new to snow plowing, just bought a used uni mount 7.5 ' western, my question is, what type of oil should I use in my pump? I understand ATF is "ok". I do not like "ok", I want good or great. I do not have the original owners manual. Please help. This site and forums have been a great help for me in my new venture. Thanks

You will have the best luck with Western fluid. It doesnt get as slugish when it gets cold as the others do. I have had people come into work with everything and anything in the pumps including engine oil all still worked but I would not suggest it
The Western fluid also has a seal additive in it. good on Unimounts not nessesary on cable controls
The most important thing is to change the fluid in the fall, Condensation builds up in housing over the summer making water in oil. It gets cold turns to ice, and sticks to filter ( looks like a marshmellow )

I never tried Anglos but any fluid designed for a plow should be better for a plow than atf or hyd oil
Like I said its more important to change the fluid than whos fluid you use
