a local supplier has Mountain Green for sale. he says it's Potassium Chloride, not sure if it's mixed with anything.

being organic it supposed to be safe for wood, concrete, and vegetation. pricing is 25LBS for $20 50LBS for $35 100LBS with sccop and bucket $110

anyone use this name brand or this make up? how's it work? and is that pricing good? i used about 1000LBS by hand last year.

I think potassium chloride is "fake salt " so if its ok to ingest it should be safe to use on the ground

When is it time to need a spreader ?

Ken after spreading 1000# by hand are you getting near the point of needing a bed truck mounted spreader . ?

Bill,

it's somthing i may consider however (just as the backplow) i need as much manuverability as possible. something hanging out the back will hurt my efficiency.

i also finding myself applying product on walks, steps, and other tight areas that a truck mounted spreader wouldn't work. (although it would make quick work of the driveways!)

Gotsnow, we use a Scott's lawn spreader rather than by hand. If you can't use a tailgate model at least make it a walk on the driveway... ;)

backplow with spreader

Snowman has a model (dual cylinders ) that will allow the use of a tailgate spreader . I dont know how practical it would be since I need max visibility when backing with my backplow
