I have an old Western Isarmatic Mark IIIa. It quit working and the solenoid was obviously fried so I replaced it. The new solenoid got fried and there was an obvious overload/short circuit. I think this is likely a problem with the motor. The terminal on the body of the motor where the positive battery cable attaches wiggles and doesn’t seem right. I’ve ordered a new motor and solenoid but I wanted to ask here to make sure it couldn’t be a problem with the pump causing the overload/short circuit? I don’t want to fry a new motor and another new solenoid.

If the motor stud is moving, replace the motor, I myself would also replace the plow battery cables, plow and truck side, they may have been damaged.

With the motor off now would be a good time to change the fluid, clean the screen and you could also rotate the pump by hand while you have it apart.
