I just picked up a used Hiniker 752 with wiring, controller and quick-hitch. Before I get in too deep I want to run a few checks. As I don't have the right mounting hardware yet, I was hoping to test the plow off the vehicle, before splashing out on the mounting kit.

I fell at the first hurdle after applying 12VDC to the motor which failed to spin. The rotor will spin by hand and there's voltage at the motor terminals although the spare battery might be a little weak. I popped the end cap and there was a little water in there. I've drained it and blown it out and will try again in the morning.

Assuming it spins up, I was then planning on testing the controls but wondered if it's safe to do so with the plow frame sat on a couple of mover's dollys. The blade itself is unsupported and free to move but I'm wondering if the movement may be too violent without the plow frame fixed to the truck. Don't want to damage anything on the plow although I'll obviously make sure there's plenty of room around the plow. Does that sound like a reasonable idea or just a dumb one?

The good news is, after drying out overnight, the motor is fine. I also installed the harness on the truck and ordered the mounting kit, which should be here by next weekend. No snow in the forecast for the next couple of weeks but wouldn't be surprised if March dumps on us. Would be nice to do a proper test before the end of the season.

I Kind of wonder how the water got in there in the first place. Power washing? but, good for you.
Think it may have been laid with the blade down at some point which might make it easier for the water to get in?

Managed to get the mount on yesterday and loaded up the plow. After a false start due to a bad ground, everything is up and running fine.

Wondering if I should do a full fluid replacement but I just topped it up for now as it was a little low. I didn't see any leaks during operation though.

My last remaining issue is how to route the controller into the truck without drilling a hole through the firewall. I'm thinking I might be able to go through the fender by the door hinge and into the cab that way but they don't make it easy these days.
