Fisher polycaster chain shortening

Hello,
I was curious, I have a fisher polycaste spreader, and pretty close to maxing out on the adjusters,, can I take a link or two out and shorten, or do I have to buy a new chain?
if so, will it effect going around the sprockets at all??

You certainly can shorten the chain. I would suggest that you replace though. If it has stretched that much it is pretty warn out and you run the risk of it breaking in the middle of a storm with a load of salt on it - no fun to say the least.

The 7 ft spreader chain is a part numbers 78076 and the 8 ft spreader is part number 94898. They are both on eBay for a little over $400.00
