I am seeing some 04 2500 4x4 priced very reasonably. Thinking about picking one up and keeping the old truck as backup :)

That would be a sweet truck, BWhite. I have been pushing, pulling, tugging, and yanking my dad to get a new one. He is getting closer, but I don't think it will be in time for this season. What cab/bed configuration are you thinking on?

Unless they come out with a large bore hemi I wouldn't get the present hemi for towing heavy loads. Plenty of folks complaining in the RV forums about insufficient power. Lots of rev and sweet sounding exhaust but not the stump puller the gasser 360 was with a proper drivetrain. You can kiss the V10 bye bye for future Rams. It likely will be diesels, and two hemi motors.

The Hemi would probably do the job, unless like Roger said, you need the power for towing.

I'm sure pushing an 810 fully loaded with snow would be pretty taxing on the gasser too.The Cummins wouldn't sweat it.

Bill,

A friend of mine recently picked up his 3500 Cummins HO Quad Cab 8' bed SRW.

He specifically wanted a 3500 SRW so he had to order it. The dealer searched for one on a lot and there were none to be found.

If i am not mistaken we can only get a DOdge SRW 3500 with the quad cad long wheel base . I dont know why they do that I want a reg cab 8' bed . I dont do any heavy duty towing . Gas engine I would only go with the 4:10 rear end

combinations

Thats one good thing about Ford trucks . They offer so many different ombinations they can make just about all of their customers happy . I guess they can afford to assemble like that since they sell so many trucks .

I've noticed when it comes to Dodge trucks the corp. seems to focus a bit more towards the towing end of truck work. Research and stats prolly prove more towing of rv, car haulers, and horse trailers occuring versus plowing. Prolly more than one occupant during these types of towings too so there's extra gear to be stowed in a quad cab arrangement.

$40,900?? These prices are getting rediculous. Over $40k for a pick up truck that is going to be used for work and get scratched and beat up. I can see a Corvette or a Viper with a price tag of that, but a pick up truck, it just doesnt make sense to me. :headwall Mike

This ones an SLT (so its the most expensive package) its a Cummins so that adds a few grand to the tag too. If I land up buying one I want to put a Blizzard 810 on it.

Vipers start around $65k and go up well near $100K if you have it shipped off to be transformed into a Hennesey Venom, giving it 800hp and basically a whole new drivetrain and braking system! No Vette in it's dreams will ever catch one!

When it comes to some vehicle prices today, you can buy a small home or a cheap duplex and get into real estate, make money from appreciation and not lose it from depreciation as is very evidnet with everyday vehicles!

Roger, you are so right! It just doesnt sit right with me how these new car/truck prices just go up and up and up. Example, my truck is a 1992, bought new as a leftover in 1993 by my older brother. The sticker price on the truck was roughly $21k. He got it for $17k because it was a leftover. Now here we are about 10 years later and the same truck would be roughly like $10k more or so? That averages out to about $1k increase a year. Its getting rediculous, where does it end? :headwall Mike :)

unfourtnatly at the rate their selling trucks it wont end they usually dont start to stop raising prices until then start to kill their sales and i have to laugh how they run promoionals where they can afford to drop the price by several thousand and i am willing to bet their still making a good profit on them... if they can afford to take 5-10 K off for a promotion they should just drop having promotions and keep the price lower all the time...

What you said about a custom Corvette not keeping up custom Viper would put a smile on the face of Reeves Callaway , John Lingenfelter just to name a few . How incredible do you want any
car to be ? How much money did you bring ?
