I have a 10 foot stainless steel western vbox. The bulk salt that I use lately has been freezing in the box, and does not go down it bridges. Is there any liquid i can use to prevent from freezing? Temps were 5 above with 30 mph winds. Any suggestions to prevent salt from freezing and bridging?

I have space heater under the grate then cover then blanket over the cover let u know results -2 last night

Then try useing a case or 2 of - whatever temp windshield washer fluid .
Then ether spread it at your clients
And run it empty.

Old thread, but when I’ve gotten salt frozen in the spreader, (other than several years ago when we had the Egyptian crap) It’s only about 1/4 ton and I go to the quarter car wash, stick the spray head in side (close tarp) get back in the truck and turn it on.
Around here the car washes use hotwater
Pressure washers, so it gets nice and warm.

I plow with an empty hopper period and then load up to salt all my accounts in the am. It beats pounding the crap out of my sander and swearing at 4 am. And that is treated salt also.

It took me 2 days of pounding and swearing to loosen up 3 yards of salt which was treated. I will follow your direction and double back to my accounts and lay the salt down beats the shit out of the other way around.
