[Chief Plow]

I took a call to bid on a 8 apartment complex the other day. I went and looked at it. Very tight and nowhere to put snow, you would be hauling quite a bit out every storm, or at the very least every other. My first thought was is this the right address. Nothing jived with what the guy told me over the phone. Anyways it was the right one. I turned the job down, because I figured the cars getting moved when I wanted them moved would be a nightmare... And wasted time is wasted $$. My question is how do you guys that do these get the cars moved when you need them moved, and do you change your price structure for such a inconveinence? There are alot of these type complexes in my area, and I wonder if it is worth getting into these for next season.

[Snoworks]

We will give a price to plow the entire parking lot, including parking areas and access roads. Then we have a hourly rate to come back during the daytime, when most of the cars are gone, to come back and clean up the open parking spots. Most condo. associations understand that their lots cannot be completed 100% due to the # of residents/cars in their complex's. This is a standard method used by most condo. assoc. in our area.

Depending on the complex, most are done hourly. Heavy snows 4" or more require cleanups the next day. We usually come back around 10am after most folks are off work. But they are responsible for notifying residents and getting them to move. Hourly here is basically the only option. It never seized to amaze me though the people running around at 3am. in a snow storm though. getting stuck in your windrow then asking you to pull them out Oh well I allways did ( hourly pay right!)

Our contract for Apts states that we'll come thru once to clear the drive lanes by 7 am, then return once to clear parking spaces during the day. ANy return trips after the first one are at hourly rates.
