Exclamation New members - read this !

It is the time if year where we tend to see a great number of new members coming on board here,in preparation for the upcoming season.I'd like to welcome you all to the site.

Upon request from some of the members,PLEASE fill out your profile, and list your trucks and equipment. It a lot easier to help and give accurate answers if we all know what we are discussing.Your location is important too,as some information is very specific to certain areas.

Please remember to browse around, and use the search function before posting,as your question may have been answered before. You can gather a lot more information that way.Once your familiar with the site, please feel free to post and ask questions,or even just to introduce yourself and say hi.

Don't forget to check out the wanted\for sale area, the networking forum, and the dealers forum.Good places to buy and sell stuff, and hook up with other local contractors and dealers.

We have one of the best sites on the web here for information and discussion regarding snowplowing and trucks.Lets try and make it even better ! I wish you all the best for this upcoming winter season.

If you can, just jump right into any of the discussion that are going right now.....

One thing I like to see, is some one bring an older thread up and add to it. This way it makes it easy for some one to find info they are looking for in one spot.

If you do start a thread, try to make the title specific to what you want to know, and try to be detailed. The more info members have in the posts, the easier it is to respond, and hopefully give you the answers you were looking for.

Welcome

LET IT SNOW LET IT SNOW LET IT SNOW

P.S. Don't be shy, we don't bite to hard.

One additional comment to all members, both new and old:

Try to be patient as we all adjust to each other, don't jump to conclusions if a post isn't worded quite right. We've all had misunderstandings of our posts, so try to "verify" before you "vilify"!

Keeping all this in mind will help to keep the Board running smoothly.

Thanks!

A few other things.......

Try to post in the correct forum. We have quite a few forums,so look around, and find the best spot to post your question.Don't just stick it in the snowplowing disscusion forum.A lot of people post there thinking they will get the best exposure, which isn't true.Any threads posted in the wrong forum will be moved.

Don't post duplicate threads in multilple forums.Keep it in the correct forum. If you have more than one topic, then post two different threads in the corresponding forums.

Don't forget to use the "view new posts" link at the top right of the main page. This will display all new posts since your last visit.Saves a lot of time over browsing through each forum individually.

You can also visit your "profile" and set all your options.Turning on email notification for PM's,and subscribed threads is handy as it will notify you when you have a PM or new reply.

And........if you need any help, jusk ask.

When you make a post on a thread, it is marked with a dot in the center of the envelope. You can see in the attached image below. It makes it easier to find threads in the list that you participated in.

One more thing, when you find a thread that you think is very helpful, rate it. That will make it stand out for others. You can rate a thread at the bottom of the reply screen.

thanks for welcome

I am a new member and have to say that this site is the best thing I bumped into so far on the world wide web. I got the link on Chucks chevy truck page. I spent three weeks trying to contact someone with the right mounts for my 88 chevy. Jerre was the first one that gave me accurate and useful information. I ended up selling the fisher plow that I had as a complete ford unit and made $600. with that money I should be able to buy something for my chevy. Once again thanks for the welcome and the help from the senior members.

I just wanted to add that it is a big help to those trying to help you if you list your location in your profile. I know MANY of you do not list one. We don't need a street address and a zip code!

Just what State you are in will do. IF you want to list a city, that is fine too.

Thanks for making me feel welcome

Hello to all the members,

I just wanted to thank all of you for being so welcoming to this site. I just found out about your site and I think it is great and very helpful especially, for me because this is my first year plowing with my company and I can use all the great advice and experience other contractors have had in snow and ice managment.

Your site is very professional and gives great advise and I really like that. I was at another site, I think it was Snow Plow Forums or something like that and your blows it away.

I just wanted to say thanks for making me feel welcome and for all the great advise.

confused

First off you all have a really great site here! lots of good info. Im very computer stupid so a little help would be great. please inform me of the difference between threads, pages, posts, replys. I start reading one conversation and keep getting lost in all the posts. I keep reading though cuz most of it's pretty helpfull, but I usually forget what I was looking for in the first place. Thanks for the great welcome to the site.

This site is made up of various Discussion Forums. Each Forum is it's own "Topic".

For instance, this "Thread" (or conversation as you called it) is in the "Snowplowing Discussion Forum" (consider each Forum as a catagory, or topic).

Threads are made up of posts (replies) which are responses to what the original poster wrote in the first post of the thread.

Eventually, the posts add up on a particular thread, and additional pages are added to the thread, as the discussion continues.

Hope it helps... Welcome aboard.

Welcome to the site!

the thread subscription means that you will receive an email telling you there has been new posts to that thread since you last visited it. Toward the bottom of the FAQ page here you will see the section called vBulletin FAQ with these 3 links:
User Maintenance
General Forum Usage
Reading and Posting Messages

When you have a couple of minutes, go to each of those & read through them, they aren't terribly long. But they do explain in an easy way how to navigate the site & will help you get the hang of it quicker & answer some of the questions that will pop up for you.

I'm hoping you may be able to provide some pics of the plow equipment used in Switzerland?

Thx for the warm welcome here.

I can tell you that we have the same problems here, like it is for you. Cars at wrong places, high costs and low paying.

Sure i will post some pictures but first i have to find the right place to post them.
I will post 2 of the equipment that i am working with. Maybe someone can tell me where to post more, i hope to find the right place soon.

Greetings Peter

btw: sorry if my english isn't perfect
