Not sure how helpful this will be, but here's my experience: last winter I bought a 2014 Ram 1500 4x4 Outdoorsman with the 8 speed auto tranny. I had the intention of putting a plow on it, but the Ram folks, as well as the Western and Boss dealers all said it was a no go. Had something to do with the electronics in the drivetrain. In any event, I kept my 2002 Ram 1500 4x4, 4 speed auto tranny, and mounted the Western HTS on it. Added the aftermarket pro-wings, installed timbrens, running Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs...works great for the residential and small commercial jobs I do. Haven't gotten stuck yet. I also baby the tranny by pausing for a second in neutral between forward and reverse, and I always plow in low range. A tranny specialist said that takes a lot of strain off the transmission and helps it to run cooler. Also added an extra cooling fan up front, which made a huge difference to keep the temp down. So, to make a short story long...that's my experience anyway...it might be better to rethink putting a plow on that buggy.
