plowing noww?

the guy across the street's plow guy just showed up. He's pushing off 1" of snow/sleet. I guess he wants to get down to the pavement to make it a sheet of ice directly on top of the asphalt?

That is all is doing here now.. maybe a 1/4 to a 1/2 inch on the ground.. and it looks like that is all it will do.. so I will wait to see what happens..

But this Nor'easter for this area.. was more an Ice'Easter.. and more to come

We got about 4" on the ground, been sleeting (ice pellets) all morning. Looks like it will be sleet for a while longer. Coming down pretty heavy. Still accumulating though. As usual, it just goes to show no one knows what will happen with a storm like this. I can remember many times over the years a storm was supposed to be mild and we got killed. We just need to be ready and stick to Tileman's "AccuWindow" forecast....

we've got 3-4" of ice pellets too. it's like driving on ball bearings where they haven't plowed. Coming down pretty good. Some guys are out already looking to squeeze two runs out of this.

about two to three inches of ice pellets here too... had to open up my commercial lots already and it may just be enough to plow all my driveways once.

Hit all the ends of the drive ways to clear off what the plows had pushed up. Its been rain here now for four hours. Didnt even bother going down to the shore. Was hoping for a money maker, all i got was wet.

Some pics. 7 " or so thus far. Plowed the entire list, going back out with all 3trucks to hit them again around 5 or so, snowing real hard here now.

I need to start winging them back before we get burried later tonight.

Gotten around 12-14". Not snowing very much anymore, but the wind is blowing pretty hard. Been a weird storm it has gone from snowing hard to freezing rain to snowing hard to not snowing hard to freezing rain.

just got in from doing the driveways. This was the first real run in a storm for the truck and the toyota did great, it could use a little more mass for the one uphill driveway I have, but a running start cures that. We ended up with about 4" of ice pellets. Made the snow very dense and heavy. You can walk on it and only sink down about an inch. I suspect we could have had the 12" they were originally talking about if it was snow, not ice pellets.

Well, after my sarcastic comment this morning that we MIGHT get enough to plow, it really cut loose. At 1:30 I went around and plowed the 5-6" that was down as it had stopped snowing. Just about done and it cut loose again.
About 15 minutes later I turned into my own driveway and had about 2" on it. Started to clean it up and it was snowing so hard, I couldn't keep up. That was four hours ago and there's another 5" down. The worst part is the one I've got that I couldn't get to cause the private road to it wasn't done. It'll all be there tomorrow morning.

Once again, nature has a way of saying "I'll show you, smart a--".

Couldn't believe it today. I got stuck backdragging. Didn't pay attention and got too much packed under the A-frame and the truck. Not too bad. Borrowed a shovel from the homeowner. Snow was light and fluffy.

This is already the biggest February storm recorded in Burlington, VT, 20 " so far and it's still snowing. I just spent two hours waiting for a wrecker to fetch me out of a ditch. Got caught in a whiteout in a drifted section of road and got sucked off the edge. I was on my way to the dealer to get a hose on my plow, they knew I was stuck and would be there ASAP and they closed up shop and went home before I got out. After buying four plows from them one would think they might have called back to see if I was still coming. This area needs a Jerre Heyer. Now I'm off to the barn to pull a hose off a parts plow and get it installed so I can operate again.

I knew things were going to good to stay that way.

That sucks dude!!! I just got done with all my stuff for the last time today, Got about 4 inches like most eveyone else in my area, I have to agree if it was all snow it would be around 10 inches but the ice packed it down hard, back blading was useless if you could not push it it did not clean up right. All i got to do is finish up my personal drive tommarow, think I will give the tractor a try, other then my cluncking noise ( which I have a thread for if any one wants to go read it) all went well had fun and got to use both plow and spreader so I am happy ...

Oh and made some greenage !!!
